In the age of communication much of what we say gets lost in translation, especially when the subjects of the conversation are far removed from one another. Information is moving faster and faster now that we have digital technology. How much of the context is now lost or misinterpreted due to this increase of information. I am deeply concerned about the loss of culture and context in our society and often wonder if we are reaching a breaking point.

I enjoy watercolor because of the delicacy of medium, the reductive process, and the challenges associated when working with water as the solvent. I want to push watercolor out of its "box" and disarm the viewer with what can be achieved in this medium. I studied watercolor under the guidance of Marcia Goldstien and Whitney Leland at the University of Tennessee but graduated with B.S. in ornamental horticulture. I currently own an art gallery in downtown Knoxville and am committed to supporting local and regional art.

I have lived in East Tennessee my entire life but love the opportunity to travel as much as I can. Airports have always been an exciting place to me. I remember traveling to D.C. by myself when I was 6 years of age, being escorted by different airport attendants thinking about how scary and fun all of it was. There is a different kind of energy in airports, a fluidity of movement, where we all go to be transported somewhere else. I am grateful for the opportunity to show my work in such a prestigious way. Thank you for your time and have a good trip wherever you are going.
